We knew that someday we would carry this book, since it was recommended to us by our good friend Amy Scott, who writes the delightful weblog Amy's Humble Musings. Amy has asked us some awfully challenging questions about our understanding of how Christians should go about pursuing the good life, and has done more than anyone to remind us that there is more than one way to approach simple living. Her thinking and writing has deepened our own thinking about such matters, and so we were excited to learn that she had given such a wholehearted endorsement to this book. You can read what Amy wrote about The Complete Tightwad Gazette here.

Don't be thrown by the title—although frugality is the overarching theme, this is a book about how to work towards the good life by taking direct control of one's circumstances. Not only is it filled with clever and useful tips about how to make do with what you have, it is an inspiring example of how to think clearly about such things.
